Parent Leadership Program
A Parent-led program based upon modeling desirable behaviors for our childrent to develop. Merriam-Webster.com defines the word modeling as “shaping or forming or to form after a pattern.” Character development is an essential part of the Montessori Academy curriculum. The Parent Leadership Program is about modeling or shaping a pattern of volunteer leadership for Montessori Academy children to develop an understanding of what it means to “volunteer” and to develop a spirit of generosity. Montessori Academy’s Mission is to promote academic excellence in a caring, nurturing environment. Current List of Projects: Second Harvest Foodbank: November 7 - 18, 2011 Goal - raise 600 pounds of Food or 468 meals (1.28 pounds of food = 1 meal) or every $1.00 raised = 4 meals Items most needed: Peanut Butter, Canned Meat, Canned Vegetables, Canned Fruit, Pasta and Cereal. Toys for Tots Toy Drive: November 28-December 2, 2011 The Goal - Collect 100 new, unwrapped toys Drop Off Location - Administration Building *On Friday, Dec 2nd, all donated toys will be brought to Toys"R"Us in Cool Springs for a bulk donation. Toys"R"Us will then match the total number of toys collected during this campaign. All donated items will be distributed to needy children in our community by local chapters of Toys for Tots. Last year, Toys for Tots collected 70,000 toys and distributed to 28,000 children in the greater Nashville area. |
